I was a nursing director in charge of the outpatient/apheresis department at Central Blood Bank in Pittsburgh when Dr. Gilcher was our medical director. He was truly my mentor and a wonderful boss. I am so sorry to learn of his passing and send my sincere condolences to his family. Everyone who knew him recognizes his many contributions to the medicine. I will never forget him and am thankful to have worked with him.
