I met Dr. Gilcher over the phone while working at a hospital in Illinois in the mid-eighties. Dr. Gilcher took a call from an unknown nurse and literally walked me through a procedure he had developed. He had no idea who I was but was at my side to ensure a perfect outcome. Shortly after starting a job at Haemonetics I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Gilcher in person. He embraced me as if we had been friends for life. Come to find out, we would be. I’ll remember his great passion and desire to teach. Dr. Gilcher cared about his craft, medicine, humanity. His spirit was visible in everything he did, every presentation he made and every goal he raced toward. It was an honor to know and be a student of Dr. Gilcher. I wish every person he mentored achieve his same potential.
Thank you for your guidance and the positive changes to medicine and life.
