Proud To Have Known Him

I first met Dr. Gilcher in a school counselor’s meeting 35-40 years ago where he was the guest speaker. It was the first of many such health updates that he gave over the years. Those were the beginnings of a long relationship.
In 2018 after losing contact with him, I had a medical emergency that seemed to have no remedy. I called him in Florida. He listened and called me often about my condition. Doc would study evenings and tell me his thoughts the next day. Pam, my wife, consulted with him on a medical issue also. These consultations renewed our relationship with him.
I’m so thankful and privileged to have known him. He was a man of: character, kindness, intelligence, humility … We shared a common goal of being a teacher. He was a born teacher who was always willing and eager to help.
We’ll surely miss him, but I know there are many working in the world today who were mentored by Doctor Gilcher. That would make him smile.😇
